Angus Deaton, born on October 19, 1945, in Edinburgh, is an economist and professor. He is a citizen of both the United Kingdom and the United States. Deaton is known for his work in economics, focusing on the analysis of consumption, poverty, and welfare. His academic disciplines extend to economics and microeconomics.
He completed his early education at Hawick High School and Fettes College. Later, Deaton pursued higher education at the University of Cambridge, where he studied at Fitzwilliam College. During his time at Cambridge, he was advised by Richard Stone.
Deaton has been recognized for his contributions to the field of economics. In 2015, he was awarded the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences. Throughout his career, he has worked and conducted research primarily in Scotland.
