Anna Sorokin is a convicted con artist and fraudster. Between 2013 and 2017, Sorokin pretended to be a wealthy heiress under the name Anna Delvey. In 2017, she was arrested after allegedly defrauding banks, hotels, and acquaintances in the United States for a total of $275,000. Anna Sorokin, better known as Anna Delvey, is back in the spotlight after the release on Netflix of her life series "Inventing Anna" in 2022.
Sorokin, 31, was found guilty of several counts of attempted grand larceny, second-degree theft, and theft of services. She was sentenced to four to 12 years in prison, fined $24,000 (£17,715) and ordered to pay $199,000 (£146,892) in restitution.
The fake socialite was released from prison in February 2021, but about a month later she was detained again by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for overstaying her visa. She has been in Immigration and Customs Enforcement custody ever since.
Despite her continued incarceration, Sorokin has carefully monitored her public image from the detention center. Apparently, she regularly logs on to her Instagram account, which she has been updating since the show's launch.
