Appcues is a Boston-based software company and user onboarding platform. The company was cofounded in 2013 by Johnathan Kim and CEO Jackson Noel. Appcues uses a software as a service (SaaS) business model to assist other software companies in onboarding new users.
Appcues seeks to help companies measure and improve upon product adoption. Companies can access the platform by downloading Appcues's software development kit (SDK), which can be added to a product's codebase or integrated with Segment, a popular customer data platform. Once the SDK is installed, Appcues begins tracking events and uses that data to build flows, which are basically a set of specific instructions and actions a user follows. Once flows are created, a product's team members can decide which users can see that flow and what actions they should take. Appcues allows a wide variety of behaviors and attributes to be targeted, to direct users on a set path and achieve desired results. The platform also gives a company's team members the option to preview experiences before they are published to the app.
