Appian is a software company offering a low-code development platform for developing enterprise software applications that is headquartered in McLean, Virginia and was founded in 1999 by Marc Wilson, Matthew Calkins, Michael Beckley, and Robert Kramer.
On July 21, 2008 Appian announced raising $10 million in series A funding from Novak Biddle Venture Partners. The firm plans on using their series A funding to expand its position within the marketplace and to improve is software-as-a-service (SaaS) product. At the time of announcing their series A funding round they also announced the additions of Jack Biddle, a general partner at Novak Biddle Venture Parters, to the firms board. The CEO and president of Appian made the following statements regarding Appian's series A funding:

On March 3, 2014 Appian announced raising $37.5 million in series B funding from New Enterprise Associates. The firm plans on using a portion of their series B funding to buy out investors in the company in preparation for an initial public offering (IPO).
