Apple Maps is a mapping service launched by Apple in 2012 and replacing Google maps in iOS and macOS operating systems.

Ups and downs

Despite the fact that Apple very seriously took the development of a new application, and even bought a few start-ups specializing in mapping, the first launch of the app caused a flurry of criticism.

Users have scolded Apple maps for low-quality satellite images, navigation errors, and a crooked 3D mode. The biggest fail that attracted public attention was when a group of young people got lost in the Australian desert, due to using Apple Maps. They were only saved as a result of a quickly deployed special operation. After that, the Australian authorities officially advised their citizens not to use this app. In 2012 the project was included in the top ten business failures, and the head of the company was forced to apologize for the bad user experience product.

However, the story of Apple Maps did not end there, the company worked hard to fix problems. Today, modified maps, rid of most bugs. According to the opinion of many users, Apple maps are not inferior in quality to competitors and even surpass them in certain functions.
