Arakinitek Holdings is a Utah State University (USU) spin-out company located in Draper, Utah. It was independently incorporated as Arakintek Holdings LLC in Delaware on March 28, 2017. The company maintains an active status according to Bizapedia and has one principal on record listed as Phil Grimm.
The company's primary focus is to commercialize synthetic spider silk products and has explored various applications for spider silk, such as surgical sutures and ballistic threats. However, the company expressed explicit interest in developing high-performance yarn and surgical sutures through its lab at Utah State University in a grant proposal submitted to the university in July of 2017.
It is noted in the grant proposal that Araknitek Holdings had maintained a close relationship with Deakin University and expected a seamless technology transfer agreement between Utah State and Deakin in the event patents were developed by Dr. Lin of Deakin. The technology developed between the two independent labs was pivotal to the spider silk development with Araknitek Holdings.
Araknitek agreed to share all data and found information with USU through the grant proposal and agreed to maintain its status as part of USU's spider silk IP portfolio indefinitely with the intent of commercializing the portfolio in the future.
