The Associated Press (AP) is an independent global news agency based in the United States. It was founded in 1846 and states it is committed to factual and unbiased journalism and reporting.
The AP is an independent news cooperative composed of independent journalists who report according to the AP's standards, which are designed to make the agency's content factual and accurate. The business operations department of the AP is responsible for ensuring the agency operates in a manner so it can stay open with appropriate revenue. There are several units within the business operations department, including revenue, sales and marketing, product development, strategic planning, corporate finance, human resources, legal, and corporate communications. This department helps form the APs product and services portfolio, which includes branded content, production, and advertising services.
The AP's technology department is not related to the production of news or articles. It is dedicated to developing technology solutions and products that can be used in the world of journalism and news reporting.
The AP has partnered with other technology-related companies, such as OpenAI, to accelerate the development of artificial intelligence solutions for media.
