Atomic creates original concepts for new businesses and seeks out individuals to steer the companies that emerge from them. Subsequently, Atomic seeks out larger investments from conventional venture capital firms to build them into sustainable businesses.
Atomic has employees handling accounting and finance for its startups along with other office functions. There are also in-house employees for public relations, human resources, and recruiting. The company is based in San Francisco and also has a sales office in Phoenix, Arizona and an engineering campus in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada. Every Atomic company is co-founded alongside serial entrepreneurs with experience in building companies valued at over a billion dollars. Participating companies gain access to teams of functional experts in legal, recruiting, design, engineering, finance, people operations, human relations, and IT fields, as well as Atomic's funds. Atomic seeks people from all backgrounds to co-found new high-growth startups or to join as a founding team member at one of its early-stage companies.
The program lasts from three to nine months, during the course of which participants work directly with Atomic's general partners and extended team to cofound a company. At the end of the program, if Atomic deems the company suitable, it will receive an initial investment of $250,000, with the potential for greater investments when company milestones are met.
