August Strindberg was a Swedish writer, artist, playwright, poet, photographer, novelist, and screenwriter. He was born in Stockholm on January 22, 1849 and died in the same city on May 14, 1912. Strindberg held Swedish citizenship and was educated at Uppsala University.
He was the father of Karin Smirnov and the author of several notable works, including "Kristina", "A Dream Play", "Miss Julie", "The Red Room" , "Inferno", "The People of Hemsö", and "To Damascus". Strindberg also wrote a book called "The Defence of a Fool" under the pseudonym Härved Ulf.
