German prince
Augustus, Elector of Saxony (July 31, 1526 - February 11, 1586) was a German politician who held the title of Elector. He was born in Freiberg, Germany, and died in Dresden. Augustus was the youngest child of Henry IV, Duke of Saxony, and Catherine of Mecklenburg. He had German nationality and was a citizen of Germany. Augustus was educated at Leipzig University.
As the father of several children, Augustus had a significant impact on his family. His children included Christian I, Elector of Saxony; Elisabeth of Saxony; Dorothea of Saxony; Anna of Saxony, born 1567 and died 1613; and Anna of Saxony. Augustus was also the founder of the Augustusburg Hunting Lodge.
