BORN Group or BORN, formerly known as Group FMG, is a creative design, content production and commerce solutions company. BORN also provides system integration services, easing the adoption of complex systems by e-commerce vendors.
The company created a multi-channel marketing content platform called "Ceros", a page-turning digital magazine/catalog that embeds dynamic content, social media and ecommerce. In June 2012 Kara Swisher reported that Crowdfusion had acquired and changed its name to Ceros; at the time, the Ceros unit of FMG had twelve employees.
VIP4, developed by FMG's Colour Systems unit, a flatplanning tool which supports collaborative workflows
ICE MAPP and ICE CAPP, online and mobile application production tools which create resources combining rich media, e-commerce and social media.
Colour Systems was in 2003 self-described as having been "at the forefront of magazine publishing pre-press production", presumably in the United Kingdom, for about thirty-years. At that time, Colour Systems formed a three part media organization, Fresh Media Group, based in Islington (London), consisting of Colour Systems, Size Creative and Applecart Solutions. A couple of years later, in 2005, Fresh Media Group extended its services to the United States through subsidiary 291 Digital.
In 2009, Fresh Media Group, which had been known by the FMG abbreviation for some time, rebranded its four subsidiaries, having established unit BigKid since it's establishment in 2003, under a new company name, FMG. FMG was subsequently purchased by a private-equity group, at which time it rebranded once more, to the BORN Group. With respect to the terms "FMG" and "Group FMG", a self-published press release indicates that Group FMG had been founded in 1987, which is not consistent with independently published information reported above.
In May 2012, the company acquired New York City-based Pod1, a creative digital services firm focusing on e-commerce; at the time, Pod1 had twenty-nine employees, while FMG's New York office had only fifteen. Pod1 had been recognized several times at the Webby Awards, in 2006, 2011, and twice in 2013.
