The British Private Equity and Venture Capital Association (BVCA) is the voice of private equity and venture capital industry in the United Kingdom. The firm represents long-term investors in speaking with society, government, media, and MPs. The BVCA engages with and supports the private capital community, connecting institutional investors, fund managers, portfolio companies, advisers, and service providers.
The group comprises more than 700 firms, including over 320 private equity and venture capital businesses, over 100 institutional investors, and more than 200 professional services firms.
The BVCA was founded in 1983, and Sir David Cooksey was the firm's first chair, formerly the director of the Bank of England, governor and director of Wellcome Trust. Currently, the firm's chair is Charlie Troup, managing partner of Duke Street since 2006.
