British lawyer and writer
Basil Montagu (born April 24, 1770, and died November 27, 1851) was a British lawyer and barrister. He was educated at Charterhouse School and Christ's College, Cambridge. Montagu held citizenship in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland and the Kingdom of Great Britain.
He was the founder of the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Basil Montagu was the son of John Montagu, 4th Earl of Sandwich, and Martha Ray. He also had a child named Basil Montagu. Montagu passed away in Boulogne-sur-Mer.
