Benjamin Gibbs is the co-founder and CEO of READY Robotics, a Columbus, Ohio-based company developing and supplying industrial automation robots.
Gibbs attended Johns Hopkins University in Rhode Island from 2001 to 2005 and achieved a Bachelor's degree in Arts and Economics.
In 2005, after graduating from Johns Hopkins University, Gibbs founded the company Baltimore Shipping Technologies with four other Johns Hopkins undergraduate students. The company was developed on a technology transfer between the students and the United States Navy to bring reusable shipping containers to the commercial market. Gibbs maintained an active role with Boston Shipping Technologies for almost 3 years before leaving.
For approximately eight years from August 2005 to June 2013, Gibbs held various positions at Johns Hopkins University, including:
- Experiential programs manager (2005-2008)
- Technology analyst (2008-2010)
- Technology commercialization representative (2010-2011)
- Technology licensing associate (2011-2013)
In 2013 Gibbs became the associate director of the Homewood Intellectual Property at JHTV. He was responsible for overseeing the investment decisions for the intellectual property portfolio of the G.W.C. Whiting School of Engineering and the Zanvyl Krieger School of Arts and Sciences on the Homewood campus of Johns Hopkins University.
In 2016, Gibbs shifted to a new role as the associate director of the commercialization strategy group. He was responsible for managing a team of full-time technology analysts working with colleagues at JHTV and Johns Hopkins faculty to translate new inventions to market.
In 2016, Gibbs co-founded READY Robotics and took on the position of CEO. READY Robotics develops and supplies industrial automation robots to companies in need of robots able to machine load and unload, pick and place, handle different materials, inspect parts, be used for palletizing, case picking, screw and nut driving tasks, and pneumatic tasks.
