Anglo-american painter
Benjamin West (1738-1820) was an American artist known for his history paintings, portraits, and religious paintings. Born in Pennsylvania on October 10, 1738, West was a United States citizen. He received his education at Yale University.
One of West's most notable works is The Death of General Wolfe. Over the course of his career, he primarily worked as an artist. Benjamin West passed away on March 11, 1820, in London, England.
