Bernardo Mota Veiga de Carvalho e Silva (born August 10, 1994 in Lisbon, Portugal) is a Portuguese footballer, midfielder for Manchester City and the Portuguese national team. Participant of the 2018 World Cup.
Bernardo was born in Lisbon to a football family. His parents supported different clubs. The whole side of my mother supported Sporting, and my father's relatives supported Benfica. Bernardo also supported Benfica, and Rui Costa was his idol - he tried to imitate him in everything. At the age of 6, Bernarda was invited to train in the Benfica children's team, but her parents could not afford such an expensive training. Also, the training ground was far from home, and Silva was still too small. For a year he persuaded his parents to let him go to the academy. On his seventh birthday, August 10, 2001, Bernardo was unpacking gifts and saw a card given by his father. It had a picture of his favorite team with the caption: "Happy birthday, you're going to play Benfica." Grandfather agreed to take on all the expenses of teaching his grandson at the children's academy.
