Canadian ice hockey player
Bernie Geoffrion, officially named Joseph Bernard André Geoffrion, was born on February 14, 1931 in Canada. He was a Canadian professional ice hockey player and coach, and was well-known by the nickname "Boom Boom". Geoffrion passed away in Atlanta on March 11, 2006.
His parents were Jean-Baptiste Geoffrion and Florina Poitras, and he had a child named Dan Geoffrion.
Throughout his career, Bernie Geoffrion received several awards. He was awarded the Calder Memorial Trophy in 1952, named to the NHL Second All-Star Team in 1955 and 1960, and received the Art Ross Trophy in 1955 and 1961. He also won the Hart Memorial Trophy in 1961, was named to the NHL First All-Star Team, and participated in NHL All-Star Games.
