Betegy is a startup providing data- and algorithm-based statistical football predictions and up-to-date sports information. It analyzes statistical data based on the model of Mark Dixson and Stuart Coles to advise users when they bet on outcomes of football matches. The service is often used as a reference point in sports betting.
Betegy's algorithm is built on over 350 various data points. Team dynamics, public news information, statistical models and neural network functionalities are taken into consideration among many other sources. Betegy publishes all results and accuracy rates, letting users even download all this data easily.
In a July 2013 interview with the Wall Street Journal, the company reported an accuracy rate of up to 90% for selected leagues. In September 2013, ESPN signed a deal with Betegy, offering its users prediction and tips for soccer and football based on the startup's data. It is deeply integrated in the ESPN Pick Center. As one of the first European companies to enter the Chinese market for sports data and betting, Betegy entered an agreement with SunLoto, a licensed operator of the Chinese Welfare and Sports Lottery.
Betegy secured seed funding in August 2012 from bmp media investors for 30% stake. An additional financing round was concluded in December 2013, taking on board a private investor. After this round, the stake of bmp media investors was slightly reduced to around 25%.
Betegy provides predictions for men's football / soccer for international leagues and competitions. When Betegy was launched in 2012, they started predicting the outcome of football games for the five most popular leagues in Europe: Premier League (England), Bundesliga (Germany), La Liga (Spain), Serie A (Italy) and Ligue 1 (France).
In the summer of 2013, the amount of leagues / competitions was extended to 22 in total: UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, FIFA World Cup, Eredivisie (Holland), Campeonato Brasileiro Serie A (Brazil), Major League Soccer (United States), Tippeligaen (Norway), Primera A (Argentina), Allsvenskan (Sweden), J-league (Japan), K League (South Korea), Primeira Liga (Portugal), Superliga Denmark, Ukrainian Premier League.
