She was born on May 25, 1903, in London, United Kingdom.
Her father was Jewish and her mother was Italian.
Binnie Barnes began her acting career in 1923 and continued until her last role in the 1973 film "40 Carats".
Her most famous film is The Private Life of Henry VIII (1933), in which she played Katherine Howard. On the wave of this success the actress moved to the United States, where she continued to act, but mainly in minor roles.
Binnie has been married twice. Her marriage to Samuel Joseph (1931-1937) ended in divorce. In 1940 she married producer Mike Frankovich, converted to Catholicism, and became a U.S. citizen. She had three children with Mike.
After the war, Binnie lived with her family for a time in Italy, where she starred in two Italian films.
She died on July 27, 1998, at her home in Beverly Hills, California, USA.
