Blake Ellender Lively is an American actress, born Blake Ellender Brown on August 25, 1987. Lively was born near Los Angeles, California, into a show business family. Her father, Ernie Lively, was an actor and director, and her mother, Elaine, was a talent scout. Lively has five elder siblings, all of whom are also actors.
Lively began the first grade at just three years old. She attended thirteen different schools by the time she finished grade school. Lively graduated from Burbank High School in 2005, where she was a stand-out in academics and extracurriculars, participated in cheerleading and the school choir, and acted as class president.
Lively began her career when she landed her role in The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, which she filmed between her junior and senior years of high school. She was awarded a Teen Choice Award nomination for Breakout Movie Star.
After she graduated, Lively starred in a comedy movie, Accepted, alongside Justin Long and Jonah Hill. The following year, in 2007, she landed a lead role as Serena Van Der Woodsen on the well-known teen drama show Gossip Girl. Lively won a Teen Choice Award for TV Actress and TV Breakout Star for her performance.
In 2010, Lively starred in a vastly different role than those prior, when she played a young mother in Ben Affleck's crime Thriller The Town. The next year, she starred in The Green Lantern alongside her now-husband, Ryan Reynolds. The movie was an overall disappointment; however, the movie led the two on-screen lovers to form a real-life romance.
Several of Lively's more recent successes, The Age of Adaline, A Simple Favor, and The Shallows, were all relatively successful.
Lively announced her new company, Betty Buzz, in 2021. The company creates low-calorie, non-alcoholic mixers. The company is named after Lively's aunt and was created because the actress doesn't drink alcohol yet enjoys mixing cocktails.
Lively was chosen by designer Karl Lagerfeld as the face of Chanel's Mademoiselle handbag line on January 5, 2011.
During the 2008 election, Lively appeared alongside Penn Badgley in a pro-Obama commercial by MoveOn. Lively also appeared in a 2013 Gucci campaign for climate change, alongside other well-known actors and actresses. She is also vocal with the Child Rescue Coalition, helping track and arrest child predators across the globe.
In 2007, Lively began dating her Gossip Girl on-screen costar, Penn Badgley. The couple broke up in 2010. Lively is also said to have dated fellow actor Leonardo DiCaprio prior to meeting Reynolds.
Lively began dating Reynolds during their time on the set of The Green Lantern, and it wasn't long after they began dating that they purchased a house together in upstate New York. Lively and Reynolds exchanged vows in Charleston, South Carolina, on September 9, 2012, in an intimate ceremony of around seventy at Boone Hall Plantation. Their marriage date is listed as September 14, 2012.
In December 2014, Lively and Reynolds had their first child, a daughter they named James. Nearly two years later, in September 2016, they had another daughter named Ines. In May 2019, Lively revealed they would be expecting a third child, another daughter named Betty. In September 2022, Lively announced they are expecting a fourth child.
