Blake Scholl was born in Cincinnati, Ohio and resides in Denver, Colorado. He attended Carnegie Mellon University from 1998 until 2001, where he graduated with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Computer Science with honors. Scholl worked as a manger of automated advertising and social networks at Amazon for approximately four years and then as a director of product development at Pelago before pursuing entrepreneurship.
In 2010, Scholl co-founded Kima Labs, a startup with a focus on developing mobile applications for e-commerce purposes. The startup was acquired by Groupon in 2012 where he then worked as senior director of project management and SmartDeals. In 2014, he founded Boom Supersonic, a company designing supersonic passenger airplanes. He is also the CEO of the same company.
Scholl has also invested in companies such as Fieldbook, Higher Ground Education, and Starsky Robotics.
Josh McFarland, a partner at venture firm Greylock Partners, describes Scholl as "co-founder material" who is "super smart in an uber-engineering sense but also very business savvy, aggressive, and a good negotiator."
