After the change of power in Ukraine in 2014, on March 18, 2014, Benyuk, together with his colleagues in the Svoboda party, including Verkhovna Rada deputy Igor Miroshnichenko, forced him to write a letter of resignation from the head of the National Television Company of Ukraine Oleksandr Panteleymonov. Benyuk's indignation was caused by the display of the celebration in Russia on the occasion of the return of the Crimea. The actions of members of the VO “Svoboda” party were condemned both by the public of Ukraine and by the Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk. More than thirty People's and Honored Artists of Ukraine signed a letter in which they believe that it would be an honest act on the part of Benyuk if he asked to remove the title of People's Artist of Ukraine. On March 27, 2014, Benyuk was included in the list of persons, published on the website of the Crimean Parliament, whose stay on the territory of Crimea is undesirable. Benyuk, commenting on the beating of Panteleymonov on March 31, 2014, refused to resign[11]. On April 4, 2014, Benyuka at his own creative evening to the cries of “Give up the mandate!” five people tried to throw rotten tomatoes.
