He was a journalist, writer, singer-songwriter, musician, composer, screenwriter, poet, lyricist, engineer, and playwright . Vian was also an actor, painter, singer, translator, music critic, and librettist .
Born in Ville-d'Avray, France, Vian was named after Boris Godunov . He attended the Lycée Condorcet, Lycée Hoche, and École Centrale Paris . Throughout his career, Vian wrote under various pseudonyms including Vernon Sullivan, Eugène Minoux, and Zéphirin Hanvélo .
Boris Vian is known for his notable works, such as Froth on the Daydream (L'Écume des Jours), I Spit on Your Graves (J'irai cracher sur vos tombes), and Heartsnatcher . He also authored The Red Grass, Autumn in Peking, Je voudrais pas crever, and Vercoquin and the Plankton among others .
