Bruce Dern (born June 4, 1936) is an American actor and screenwriter. Born in Chicago as Bruce MacLeish Dern, he has appeared in various notable films over his career, in genres such as Western. Some of his most notable works include Nebraska (2013), Our Souls at Night, Family Plot, After Dark, My Sweet, and The Hateful Eight (2015).
Dern attended the University of Pennsylvania, Choate Rosemary Hall, and New Trier High School. His relatives include former Utah Governor George Dern, poet Archibald MacLeish, and actress Diane Ladd, who is the mother of his daughter, actress Laura Dern.
Throughout his career, Bruce Dern has received numerous awards, such as the AARP Movies for Grownups Awards, Berlin International Film Festival, Cannes Film Festival, CinEuphoria Award, and a star on the Walk of Fame.
He currently resides in Los Angeles, California.
