This is a proposal for creating a prototype to capture flight data suitable for post-flight debrief of Aerobatic & High-G flights. This proposal addresses the challenges with currently available devices (“pucksâ€Â): (1) GPS signal loss when the aircraft is at unusual attitudes, (2) ARHS data is inaccurate and often corrupted in unusual attitudes and high Gs, (3) Transmission of the flight data immediately after the flight requires manual steps, sometimes cumbersome, and sometimes not possible. (4) G not available. The proposed solution will address all of these challenges. It will enable data-driven debrief of aerobatics flights, overcoming current limitation of data capture. The advantage is not limited to aerobatic flights: the high accuracy of the flight data will significantly enhance the precision of debrief for any flight. This solution will be extended for capturing additional data types for post-flight debrief. The proposed solution is an adaptation to military needs of currently available commercial product. It will be included as a premium option with the commercial product for aerobatics pilots and for aerobatics training in general aviation, and for anybody who is looking for high precision debrief. The prototype will include a data capture tool FlightTrail, integrated with the commercial product.
