Camilo José Cela was born on May 11, 1916, in Padrón, Spain. He was a writer, poet, novelist, politician, and journalist. Cela was educated at Universidad Complutense de Madrid-Centro Universitario Villanueva. He was a citizen of Spain and resided in the country.
Throughout his career, Cela wrote various poetry and novels. Some of his notable works include "The Family of Pascual Duarte" and "Journey to the Alcarria". He also founded Alfaguara, a Spanish publishing house.
In 1989, Camilo José Cela was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature. He was the father of Camilo José Cela Conde, also a writer. Cela passed away on January 17, 2002, in Madrid, Spain.
