Throughout his life, Mazarin was an art collector and owned works such as the Mystic Marriage of Saint Catherine (Correggio) and The Inspiration of the Poet. He also founded the Académie royale de peinture et de sculpture. Cardinal Mazarin passed away on March 9th, 1661 in Vincennes.
