Carl Ludvig Gunnar Strigeus, born January 15, 1981 and living in Gothenburg, is a Swedish civil engineer in computer technology and programmer. Among other things, he is known for his BitTorrent client µTorrent and as one of the key people behind Spotify.
Biography
Strigeus started programming at a very young age on the family's Vic-20 and released his own games already as a teenager. He studied computer science at Chalmers University of Technology and graduated in 2006 with a degree in engineering as one of the best in his class, and was awarded the John Ericsson Medal for his academic achievements. the Tentacle and Monkey Island on modern computers. Through the OpenTTD project, he has been instrumental in porting Transport Tycoon Deluxe to a large number of platforms. In a short time, he developed the foundation for µTorrent, a small and fast Torrent client that quickly became very popular. Thanks to this, Strigeus was discovered by the duo behind Spotify Daniel Ek and Martin Lorentzon, who bought the program in 2006 and laid the technical foundation for the long-dominated music player. Strigeus was employed as a senior programmer on Spotify and received 5 percent of the shares in the company, a position that in 2018 was worth around SEK 1.4 billion, and is (2020) still a partner and employee in the company. Strigeus has been granted several patents in its field . In 2015, he was awarded an honorary doctorate at Chalmers University of Technology, and was awarded the Polhem Prize in 2020 by Swedish Engineers.
