Brazilian actress and singer
Carmen Miranda (1909-1955) was a Portuguese-born actor, singer, and dancer who held citizenships in Portugal, Brazil, and the United States. She was born in Marco de Canaveses and later on, worked and lived in the United States. Miranda was also known by the pseudonyms "A Pequena Notável" and "Brazilian Bombshell".
Beginning her career as a singer, Miranda gained popularity as an actress and dancer in Brazil before transitioning to the American entertainment industry(. She acted in several Hollywood films and became a symbol of Latin American culture. On August 5, 1955, Carmen Miranda passed away in Beverly Hills, California.
