Carnegie Robotics (CRL) is an ISO 9001:2008 certified supplier of advanced robotics sensors and platforms for defense, mining, agriculture, infrastructure, and energy applications. The company's technology develops and delivers custom sensors and robotic platforms for new or expanded capabilities and differentiation for robotics. This includes specialization in the designing and manufacturing of advanced robotic sensors and robotic equipment. Carnegie Robotics has developed competencies in engineering, manufacturing, and testing for the development of reliable and environmentally robust products.
Carnegie Robotics was founded in May 2010 by John Bares and David LaRose as a spinout of Carnegie Mellon University's National Robotics Engineering Center (NREC), a research and development organization for advanced field robotics, machine vision, and autonomy.
Carnegie Robotics provides advanced robotics sensors and platforms for use in agriculture, infrastructure, and defense industries. CRL's products include monocular and stereo camera products, numerous camera array configurations, and multi-modal hybrid platforms. This includes the MultiSense product, which offers 3D stereo and video and tri-modal sensor packages; and the Duro system, a ruggedized, multi-band, multi-constellation Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) receiver.
Carnegie Robotics works with various commercial, research, and government entities to develop custom solutions for those partners. This has included partnerships to develop sanitary autonomous robots and minefield-clearing robotics. These have included partnerships with Brunswick Corporation, Swift Navigation, the NHL's Pittsburgh Penguins, Danfoss Power Solutions, Nilfisk, AutonomouStuff, and the U.S. Army.
