Charles Cotesworth Pinckney was born on February 25, 1746, in Charleston, South Carolina. He held various occupations throughout his life, such as diplomat, politician, military personnel, and lawyer. Pinckney was a citizen of both the United States and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland.
He received his education from Westminster School and Christ Church, Oxford. His father, Charles Pinckney, served as South Carolina's chief justice, while his mother, Eliza Lucas, was also a prominent figure.
Pinckney lived a long and active life, eventually passing away in his home city of Charleston, South Carolina on August 16, 1825.
