Charles I of England (born November 19, 1600) was King of England, Scotland, and Ireland from March 27, 1625, until his execution in 1649. Born in Dunfermline, he was the son of James VI and I and Anne of Denmark. Charles I had several children, including Charles II of England, Mary, Princess Royal and Princess of Orange, Henry Stuart, Duke of Gloucester, James II of England, Elizabeth Stuart (daughter of Charles I), and Henrietta of England.
During his reign, Charles I founded the Plymouth Company and held the occupation of a politician. He had a contentious relationship with the Parliament of England, which sought to curb his royal prerogative. Charles I died on February 9, 1649, in London.
In addition to his political endeavors, Charles I was also the owner of various artworks such as "Death of the Virgin" by Caravaggio and "Lucretia and her Husband".
