Mathematician and electrical engineer
Charles Proteus Steinmetz (1865-1923) was a mathematician, engineer, and physicist originally from Germany but later gained citizenship in the United States. He was educated at the University of Wrocław and made significant contributions to the field of electrical engineering.
Steinmetz was born in Wrocław and later died in Schenectady, New York. In recognition of his work, he was inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame in 1977.
