Charlotte Amalie of Hesse-Kassel was born on April 27, 1650, in Kassel. She was the daughter of William VI, Landgrave of Hesse-Kassel, and Sophie of Brandenburg. Charlotte held Danish citizenship and resided in Denmark.
During her lifetime, she was the Queen consort and also worked as a politician. She was known as an accomplished businesswoman who didn't have a robust political influence. Charlotte was also known by the alias "queen of Denmark and Norway".
Charlotte had several children, including Prince Christian of Denmark (1675–1695), Princess Sophia Hedwig of Denmark, Prince Charles of Denmark, Prince William of Denmark, and Frederick IV of Denmark.
Charlotte Amalie of Hesse-Kassel passed away in Copenhagen on March 27, 1714.
