Christopher Newport University

Christopher Newport University (CNU) is a public educational institute located in Newport News, Virginia, United States. It was founded in 1961 and operates in the industries of education, higher education, and as a university. The university has a motto, "Students Come First".

CNU is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music, the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges, and the Engineering Accreditation Commission (EAC) of ABET. The university is affiliated with the National Collegiate Athletic Association and the National Athletic Association.

Christopher Newport University holds one patent and has a subsidiary, the Ferguson Center for the Arts.
