Cinven is an international private equity firm founded in 1977 by Lionel Anthony. The firm became independent from the British Coal pension schemes in 1995 and raised its first independent fund in 1996. Cinven manages capital on behalf of more than 200 investors globally in the Americas, Europe, Asia-Pacific and Middle East. Cinven has offices in London, Frankfurt, Guernsey, Luxembourg, Milano, New York, Madrid and Paris.Cinven uses a matrix of sector and local country expertise to target companies and drive revenue growth.
Founder Lionel Anthony has served as chairman of the British Venture Capital Association and of the MBO/MBI committee of the European Venture Capital Association. Anthony earned his BSc in Economics from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
Cinven is led by Managing Partner Stuart McAlpine. McAlpine joined Cinven in 1996, became partner in 2005, and became managing partner in 2015. Formerly, McAlpine led the Healthcare Sector team and the United Kingdom and Ireland Regional team. McAlpine has his BAcc in Accoutancy from University of Glasgow.
