Clarence Brown (born Clarence Leon Brown on May 10, 1890) was an American film producer, screenwriter, and director. Born in Clinton County, Iowa, Brown received his education at Knoxville High School and the University of Tennessee. He held American nationality and citizenship.
Brown had a career that spanned nearly four decades, with his first film released in 1915 and his latest in 1953. During this time, he directed various films, such as The Blue Bird, The Great Redeemer, National Velvet, and Plymouth Adventure, among others.
Throughout his career, he explored diverse film genres, including drama, romantic films, comedies, fantasy films, Western films, mystery films, romance films, and adventure films.
Clarence Brown received numerous awards for his work in film, such as the Academy Awards, George Eastman Award, and British Academy Film Awards. He passed away in Santa Monica, California, on August 17, 1987.
