Claudette Colbert was a French-American actress born on September 13, 1903, in Saint-Mandé, France. Colbert held citizenship in both France and the United States. Born as Emily Claudette Shochouan, she later changed her professional name. Colbert lived until July 30, 1996, when she passed away in Speightstown.
Colbert studied at the Art Students League of New York and Washington Irving Campus. Throughout her career, she received various awards and honors. Some of these include awards from the Film Society of Lincoln Center, Golden Globes, USA, Laurel Awards, Online Film & Television Association, Photoplay Awards, San Sebastián International Film Festival, Kennedy Center Honors, and a star on the Walk of Fame.
