Claudia de' Medici was born on June 4, 1604, in Palazzo Pitti. She was a daughter of Ferdinando I de' Medici, Grand Duke of Tuscany, and Christina of Lorraine. Claudia was a politician and held Italian citizenship. She was the mother of Ferdinand Charles, Archduke of Austria, Sigismund Francis, Archduke of Austria, Vittoria della Rovere, Maria Leopoldine of Austria, and Archduchess Isabella Clara of Austria.
Claudia de' Medici was known for being the Regent of the Austrian County of Tyrol during the minority of her son from 1632 until 1646. She died in the Holy Roman Empire on December 25, 1648.
