Christina of Lorraine was born on August 16, 1565 , in the Palace of the Dukes of Lorraine , and was a member of the French aristocracy . She was a citizen of France and had her nationality in Buhl-Lorraine . Christina was a member of the House of Lorraine and became the Grand Duchess of Tuscany by marriage.
She was the daughter of Claude of France and Charles III, Duke of Lorraine . Christina had several children, including Lorenzo de' Medici , Cosimo II de' Medici, Grand Duke of Tuscany , Claudia de' Medici , Carlo de' Medici (cardinal) , Maria Maddalena de' Medici , and Catherine de' Medici, Governor of Siena .
Christina of Lorraine passed away on December 19, 1637, in Florence . She served as Regent of Tuscany jointly with her daughter-in-law during the minority of her grandson from 1621 to 1628 .
