British neuroscientist
Colin Blakemore (born June 1, 1944) was a neuroscientist from the United Kingdom. He was born in Stratford-upon-Avon and died on June 27, 2022, in Oxford. Blakemore was educated at King Henry VIII School in Coventry before attending Corpus Christi College, Cambridge.
Blakemore was the founder of the Boyd Group and was known as a prominent figure in neuroscience. He was a student of Horace Barlow, who served as his doctoral advisor.
Colin Blakemore had a daughter, Sarah-Jayne Blakemore, who also pursued a career in neuroscience.
