The Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) was founded on December 8, 1991. It is headquartered in Minsk, Belarus. The founding members of the CIS are the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic, the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic, and the Byelorussian Soviet Socialist Republic. One subsidiary of the CIS is the Warriors-Internationalists Affairs Committee.
