Crockett Johnson, born on October 20, 1906, in New York City[(74114016)#place_of_birth], was a cartoonist, illustrator, and comics artist. He was educated at Cooper Union and created notable works in children's literature, comics, and visual arts. Some of his notable works include "Harold and the Purple Crayon," "The Carrot Seed," and "Barnaby". Johnson sometimes used the pseudonym David Johnson Leisk.
He passed away on November 7, 1975, in Connecticut.
