Abstract

Proposes the development of a paper microfluidics based biosensor for detection of PSSPwhich provides a sensitiverapidelectrochemical based PON techniquecapable of qualitatively and quantitatively detecting PSSPThe proposed product is based on a disruptive platform technology calledD LFB platformwhich is a novelpaper based analytical devicecomposed of the LFAlateral flow assaycomponent and the ECelectrochemicalcomponentD LFB platform can be applied broadly to applications for point of care or on the fieldPONdetection of infectious agents or cancer biomarkersThe sensitive electrochemical detection is enabled by using combustible and disposablepaperdevices with a two dimensional designIn this designa one sided adhesive backing is used to house both the LFA component and the EC componentwhich can be easily brought into one ready to test biosensor by simply folding the device following the center lineThe beauty of paper microfluidicsincluding the LFAis fully utilized in theD LFBwhile the sensitivity of the LFA is significantly enhanced by incorporating enzymatic amplification and electrochemical detectionsThe device is self driven by the inherent capillary action of a porous paper networkComplicated lab procedures are completed on one paper device in underminutes with minimal user interventionThese procedures include sample preparationanalyte specific labelingseparationwashingsignal amplificationand signal transduction
