Dan Wright is an entrepreneur and former CEO of DataRobot, an augmented intelligence (AI) company that delivers AI technology and ROI enablement services to global enterprises competing in today's intelligence revolution.
Wright earned his bachelor's degree from Pepperdine University and his Juris Doctor degree from Boston College.
Prior to his time at DataRobot, Wright was the COO of AppDynamics, a platform helping business executives understand and optimize operations to accelerate an organization's evolution within modern digital economy. Wright joined AppDynamics in April 2014. In 2017, Wright served as senior vice president, general counsel, and corporate secretary of AppDynamics and was responsible for all company legal functions, compliance, and oversight.
Before joining AppDynamics full-time, Wright practiced law at Goodwin Procter LLP as the company's external legal counsel. While at Goodwin Procter, Wright acted as corporate counsel to a broad spectrum of technology companies.
In early 2021, Wright took the role of CEO of DataRobot, succeeding cofounder Jeremy Achin. After one year and four months in the role, Wright resigned after an employee outcry over stock sales and Wright spending money on retreats and using a private jet. Wright was replaced by interim CEO, Debanjan Saha, a former employee of Google, Amazon Web Services, and IBM.
Wright lives in San Francisco, California, with his wife and twins. Wright also serves as an investor, board member, and advisor to leading startup companies, such as Abnormal Security, Avi Networks, Embrace, Fabric, Gem, Ironclad, People.ai, Pipe, Quantum Metric, Tonal, and Vendr. He is cofounder of the Jordan Zapper Memorial Scholarship, which helps two graduates of Colfax High School get to college each year, and he is a member of the Dean's Council at Boston College.
