Daniel Lewin was an American-Israeli computer scientist, mathematician, and businessperson. He was born in Denver on May 14, 1970, and held citizenship in both the United States and Israel. Lewin was educated at the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where he was advised by F. Thomson Leighton.

Lewin co-founded Akamai Technologies, a company specializing in content delivery and cloud services. He received multiple awards during his lifetime, including being inducted into the National Inventors Hall of Fame in 2017. Daniel Lewin was the son of Kurt Lewin.

Tragically, Lewin passed away in New York City on September 11, 2001, during the terrorist attacks on the United States.
