Danny Glover, born Daniel Lebern Glover on July 22, 1946, in San Francisco, is an American actor, film director, and political activist. He is known for his lead role as Roger Murtaugh in the Lethal Weapon film series. Glover has had a diverse career, working as a film producer, character actor, executive producer, film director, television producer, and singer.
Educated at San Francisco State University, City College of San Francisco, and George Washington High School in San Francisco, Glover has directed a variety of films within different genres such as western, comedy, drama, black comedy, science fiction, fantasy, horror, romantic comedy, sports, and adventure.
Some of his notable film directorial works are Escape from Alcatraz, The Saint of Fort Washington, Bopha, and The Color Purple. Danny Glover is also the founder of Robey Theatre Company and has received awards at Film Independent Spirit Awards, San Francisco International Film Festival, and Karlovy Vary International Film Festival.
