Darren Clarke was born on August 14, 1968, in Dungannon, United Kingdom. He is a citizen of the United Kingdom and is of Irish nationality. Clarke was educated at the Royal School Dungannon and is widely known for his occupation in golf.
He has most notably been involved in course architecture, with his first course, Pinnacle Point, opening in late 2006 near Mossel Bay in the southern Cape of South Africa. Other extensive work on designs includes Castle Dargan and Moyvalley in Ireland, and the Angus in Scotland. In 2002, Clarke founded the Darren Clarke Foundation to support Irish junior golf and discover future stars in the sport.
Darren has participated in multiple golfing events in various locations such as Dungannon, North Abaco, The Bahamas, and the Republic of Ireland. In his first year on the PGA TOUR Champions, he made six appearances and achieved a season-best T24 finish at the Boeing Classic.
Throughout his career, Clarke has received numerous awards in various tournaments and championships. These include the PGA TOUR Champions, Dick's Sporting Goods Open, The Senior Open Championship presented by Rolex, Charles Schwab Cup Championship, Sanford International, The Ally Challenge, Mitsubishi Electric Championship at Hualalai, Charles Schwab Series at Bass Pro Shops Big Cedar Lodge, and Mastercard Japan Championship, among others.
