Dashblock, previously known as Datap, is a software that can transform web pages into application programming interface (API). It was developed by Hugues Pouillot and Maxime Corbani in 2019. Before developing the application, Pouillot worked in happn and co-founded Sharette, while Corbani previously worked in Vertone and co-founded Symolia. The company is based in Paris, France.
Initially, the software was developed in the form of a browser extension that can be installed in Google Chrome. The extension was meant to scrap data from web pages and categorizing them through tags. The output would be available for download in the form of CSV or JSON files. Later on, the extension was further developed into a software which uses machine learning to extract API from visited web pages. It functions similarly to its extension counterpart; through tagging the page elements that would be extracted. The data would then be displayed in the form of command-line interfaces. However, unlike the extension, to access the application’s capability, users must install the Dashblock software, which is available for both Windows and Mac operating systems.
