Dave Eggers (born March 12, 1970) is an American writer, screenwriter, novelist, journalist, and activist shareholder. He was born in Boston and holds citizenship in the United States. Eggers is best known for his notable works, A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius, What Is the What, and Zeitoun.
Eggers was educated at the University of Illinois System, including the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, as well as Lake Forest High School (Illinois). In addition to his writing career, Eggers is the founder of the literary journal McSweeney's, which is based in San Francisco, California.
